Winter sun in Positano - A birthday to remember

For my birthday trip this year, we took a trip to Positano for some autumn sunshine! We adore Italy and especially Positano is a special place for us as a family. Across Positano, the food is exceptional and views even better so it is the perfect destination to celebrate! If you are looking for great food, good weather and the most scenic destination then you have come to the right place. Here I will be sharing some of our favourite moments from the trip.

Nestled along the stunning Amalfi Coast, Positano is one of Italy's most enchanting destinations. While many flock to this picturesque town during the summer months, visiting in October offers a unique charm, making it an ideal spot for those in search of some winter sun. The warm days are complemented by cooler evenings, making it perfect for cozy dinners with breathtaking views.

One of the delights of visiting Positano in October is the chance to explore its charming streets and local boutiques without the throngs of tourists found in the summer. Take time to wander through the narrow alleyways, discover artisanal shops, and enjoy the local cuisine at intimate restaurants that feature seasonal menus. Fresh seafood, handmade pasta, and locally sourced produce take center stage, often complemented by regional wines.

RECOMMENDED THINGS TO DO

PATH OF THE GODS

The Path of the Gods, or Sentiero degli Dei, is a breathtaking hiking trail that winds its way along the cliffs of the Amalfi Coast, offering stunning views of the Mediterranean Sea and the charming village of Positano. This ancient pathway, once used by locals for trade and communication, presents a rugged yet accessible route that showcases the region's natural beauty and cultural heritage. As you walk the trails you are treated to panoramic views of terraced vineyards, fragrant lemon groves, and dramatic cliffs, all while experiencing the serene atmosphere of this enchanting landscape. We even found a cliffside football pitch on the way.

After days of pasta and wine it is a great way to get some much needed exercise!

FERRY TO CAPRI

Capri, the enchanting island in the Bay of Naples, is renowned for its stunning natural beauty and vibrant culture. Famous for its dramatic cliffs, crystal-clear waters, and charming villages, Capri has long been a favourite retreat for artists, writers, and celebrities. The island’s iconic landmarks, such as the Faraglioni rock formations and the Blue Grotto, draw visitors with their breathtaking beauty. Strolling through the picturesque streets of the main town, also named Capri, there are chic boutiques and elegant cafes serving delicious food. If you are feeling brave take the chair lift from the town of Anacapri to the majestic Mount Solaro where you get the breathtaking beauty of Capri from a unique perspective - I but beware if you are afraid of heights... I cant say I had my eyes open for the whole trip up!!

SWIM AT FIORDO DI FURORE BRIDGE

Catch the bus in Positano and brave the winding roads to the Fiordo Di Furore Bridge, which is and iconic structure along the Amalfi Coast. This picturesque spot is celebrated for its dramatic cliffs and stunning turquoise waters, creating a breathtaking backdrop and the most peaceful place to swim. The bridge is 30 meters in height and unbelievable that at certain times they have diving competitions from the top!!
Its the perfect place to relax and take in the amazing views.
