Castle Combe

posted 27th September 2023
Castle Combe is a beautiful Cotswold village set in the countryside in Wiltshire. It is certainly one of the most picturesque villages, with lots of history behind it. A Castle once stood in the area hence the name. It Is like a medieval village standing still in time and in fact there have been no new houses build there in the last 400 years. Walking round you feel like you are part of history and in a real fairy tale.

As you walk through Castle Combe, it has a lovely village feel to it. The houses are beautifully built with the traditional bricks. It is what you would expect of an English country village. It is surrounded by countryside so a great way to explore and take it all in is to do one of the circular walks through the surrounding woods and fields then back into the village.

On the circular walk past the golf course, you will come across the The Manor House Hotel, it is an idyllic 14th – century retreat, nestled in the beautiful countryside. The hotel is surrounded by Italian Gardens and amazing views. It is the perfect place to spend the afternoon and relax. It also has its own Michelin -starred restaurant serving the most delicious food... so if dinner is on the cards then I highly recommend booking in.

There is a very friendly atmosphere in the village, with everyone having a great appreciation of how beautiful it is. Residents of the village open their doors up to serve tea, coffee and delicious cakes to passers by.
Castle Combe is a place that is easily visited time and time again.
